Frequently Asked Questions
Working with Point Consultancy
What does Point Consultancy do?
We advise students, and their parents, who want to study in the UK. We help you choose the right programme and school, prepare and send your application, and get ready to travel once you have an offer. We work on English language schools, undergraduate and foundation programmes, master’s and MBA programmes, and summer schools.
Why only the UK?
Focusing on one country lets us follow its education system, application calendars and cities closely, so we can give you clear advice that fits your situation rather than general information.
Do you work with parents?
Yes. We work with parents as much as with students. If the student is under 18, a parent instructs us on their behalf and we plan each step together with them.
Which language do you work in?
Turkish or English, whichever you prefer. We speak Turkish with you and your family, and English with schools and universities.
Choosing a programme and applying
Can I study in the UK if my English is not good enough yet?
Yes. Language schools are there for exactly that. If you are aiming for a degree or a master’s, you can start with an English course first, or with a pre-sessional English course, which some universities run for students who have not yet met their English requirement. We will work out the best route for your level together.
Do I need to take IELTS?
It depends on the programme. UK universities mostly state their English requirement for degrees and master’s as an IELTS Academic score, and each institution decides which tests and scores it accepts. IELTS Academic is the version that assesses whether you are ready to begin studying in English. Enrolment conditions at language and summer schools vary, and we check what your chosen school needs.
When should I apply?
Undergraduate applications go through UCAS and can be sent from September of the year before the course starts; the deadline for most courses is in January, and for Oxford, Cambridge and most medicine courses it is in mid-October. Each master’s programme sets its own dates, and language and summer schools are more flexible. We suggest getting in touch as early as you can before your planned start.
Can you guarantee me a place?
No. Schools and universities make their own admission decisions. We suggest realistic options and help make your application strong, complete and on time, but no consultant can guarantee an offer.
How do I send my documents?
Please do not email documents such as passports or bank statements. When we need documents, we send you a private, time-limited, secure upload link.
Can I visit your office in London?
Our registered office is a working office and is not open to visitors. You can reach us at info@point-consultancy.com or through the enquiry form.
If you cannot find the answer to your question, send the enquiry form or email us and we will reply by email.
